Known issues until Citrix WEM 1808

A short listing of the older WEM topics that I noticed and can serve as an argument for you to update to WEM 1808.

Intermittent crashes of Norskale Broker Service

If the above service terminates, resources can no longer be distributed from this server. This is due to a memory allocation error that WEM still makes in the earlier versions.

After the upgrade, the agent shows that he is not bound to any Configuration Set

After upgrading to WEM 4.6, different agents display the status that they are not bound to any Configuration Set (Administration / Agents / Registration). As a first workaround, Citrix spent the time to bind the configuration sets directly to the machines and not to connect them via OU, since several results came back in parallel with the OU mechanism and therefore the assignment could not be completed.

WEM Agents showing random incorrect bindings

The WEM Agent (Version 4.6) can throw an error that he is bound with multiple Configuration sets if the mapping was again done through OUs. This error is based on the same BUG as the error above.

Folder redirection discrepancy between “Quick Access” and “This PC”

In the earlier versions (WEM 4.2 & 4.3) there were still discrepancies between “Quick Access” and “This PC” when configuring Folder Redirection over WEM.
Example:

Under “This PC”:
‘Downloads’ is showing local directory
‘Desktop’ is showing redirected path directory
‘Documents’is showing local directory

Under “Quick Access”:
‘Downloads’ is showing redirected path directory
‘Desktop’ is showing redirected path directory
‘Documents’ is showing redirected path directory

Norskale agent eats too much memory

If WEM is used in larger environments (more than 5000 agents) and many requests to the domain (users, computers, groups, etc.) are made by the agent, he can allocate more than 2 GB of memory after a few days. This bug in some Microsoft LDAP APIs is fixed with an update or the private patch LC9623.

Event Log Error after enabling Intelligent CPU – I/O Optimization

After upgrading the WEM Agent (version 4.7), when Intelligent CPU Optimization is enabled and/or Intelligent I/O Optimization is enabled, error messages (error 87) are frequently displayed in the Windows Event Log. This issue does not affect the user experience, so you can ignore these error messages.

Short-term increase in CPU utilization by the agent

When users access applications through WEM, the Norskale Agent CPU usage increases to 20% for 5 to 60 seconds, which of course negatively impacts the user experience. This requires updating or requesting and installing the Private Patch LC9230 on Citrix.

WEM in conjunction with XA / XD 7.16 causes the agent to crash

The WEM Agent crashes randomly after upgrading to XA / XD 7.16. This requires updating or requesting and installing the Private Patch LC8926 on Citrix.
